Planning a Hertfordshire wedding and dreaming of amazing live music to elevate your day? As a local wedding singer & guitarist, I’ve performed at many venues across the county — and I’ve also spent lots of time exploring others that are perfect for live performances.
Here I’ve gathered ten of my favourite Hertfordshire wedding venues for live music – from rustic barns to grand manors – each with its own charm and perfect setting for ceremony songs, receptions, or a live wedding band.
Talk about a wow factor – Ashridge House is a palatial Gothic mansion and former royal residence that will take your breath away. With its towering spires, grand staircase hall, and 190 acres of gardens, Ashridge is the kind of venue where you can picture a string quartet playing as you walk down the aisle, or a live singer (hello! 👋) filling the chapel with a heartfelt ballad. For your reception, Ashridge offers ornate drawing rooms and a gorgeous outdoor terrace.
Ashridge House is perfect for couples dreaming of a spectacular, upscale wedding – and as a musician, I bring my best to meet the occasion, whether that’s learning a classical piece for your ceremony or amplifying the party atmosphere at night. If you want your wedding to feel like a royal gala with a personal touch, Ashridge won’t let you down.
The Barn at Alswick is a stunning 16th-century barn on the historic Alswick Hall Estate, lovingly restored into a contemporary event space. . This venue combines old rustic charm with modern style – the barn has beautiful oak beams and brickwork, plus huge windows overlooking private gardens. What I love about Alswick is how it lets couples design every element to be completely “you”.
Alswick also offers on-site glamping, so the festivities (and music) can continue around the campfire late into the night for those staying over. If you’re after a venue that’s a blank canvas barn with gorgeous gardens, run by a passionate team, The Barn at Alswick is a fantastic pick. Your day here will feel relaxed, bespoke, and very fun – and I’ll be there to make sure the music is exactly what you envision, from start to finish.
Coltsfoot Country Retreat is a beautiful exclusive-use barn venue nestled in the Hertfordshire countryside I have a huge soft spot for Coltsfoot – in fact, I got married here myself!
The venue’s rustic barn and courtyard gardens create a warm, intimate vibe (it felt like a big family gathering at my own wedding). From a live music perspective, Coltsfoot’s cozy indoor space has lovely acoustics for your ceremony or first dance, and the courtyard is perfect for acoustic tunes during a summer drinks reception.
I’ll actually be performing here on my anniversary soon, which tells you how much I adore it. If you want a venue with personal charm – and one a wedding singer can navigate with eyes closed – Coltsfoot is a top choice.
Fanhams Hall is an enchanting Jacobean mansion turned luxury hotel, set amid 27 acres of gorgeous gardens. This venue blends historic elegance with fun modern touches – there’s even a Japanese tea house in the gardens!
For live music, Fanhams offers versatile settings: imagine a string duo or acoustic singer serenading your wedding ceremony in the grand Long Gallery, or me performing upbeat acoustic classics on the lawn by the fountain in the afternoon. The Great Hall provides a dramatic indoor space with rich wood paneling – perfect for that emotional first dance or a lively band later in the evening. If you love manicured gardens and a mix of indoor-outdoor options for music, Fanhams Hall is a must-see. It’s stately yet inviting – I’ve seen guests wander those gardens humming along to music, totally in awe of the setting.
Hunton Park Hotel is a sweeping 22-acre estate crowned by a striking Queen Anne mansion house and I’m proud to say I’m a recommended supplier here. From the moment you drive up the tree-lined avenue to this 190-year-old manor you know it’s something special. The elegant interiors (did you know parts of a 1970s romance film were shot here?) are ideal for live music.
I’ve performed a couple’s first dance “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran in the marquee. For daytime vibes, the patio and lawns are fantastic for a live acoustic set during your drinks reception, with guests relaxing while I strum their favourite songs.
Being a recommended singer for Hunton Park means I’ve worked closely with their team; they trust me to complement their venue’s atmosphere. If you want a luxurious escape that still feels warm and welcoming, Hunton Park delivers.
If a barn wedding with countryside charm is your dream, Milling Barn should be on your list. This family-run venue features a 17th-century oak barn with high ceilings and exposed beams set on a peaceful farm estate.
The ceremony barn has a lovely intimate feel – brilliant for acoustic aisle songs. Later on, the main barn area and courtyard come alive with music; one memorable moment was performing a live-looping acoustic cover of “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift during a drinks reception here!
Milling Barn’s laid-back vibe means you can really tailor the soundtrack to your style. With its blend of rustic charm and professional coordination (they even offer in-house lighting and DJ packages to pair with live acts), Milling Barn is a refined barn venue that lets music shine.
Offley Place is a 17th-century manor house set in 27 acres of parkland – a venue that exudes timeless elegance. Driving up the long, sweeping driveway to this country house feels like entering a Jane Austen novel.
As a performer, I appreciate Offley Place’s blend of old-world charm and modern amenities. The bright conservatory is a popular spot for wedding breakfasts and is wonderful for live background music (imagine soft acoustic melodies as you dine under natural light). Later on, the ballroom and bar area are perfect for ramping things up.
The venue is experienced with multicultural weddings and larger events, so they have space for a band or additional singers if you’re planning something big. If you want historic grandeur with a friendly feel, Offley Place is ideal, and I’m very familiar with making music in every corner of it!
South Farm straddles the Herts/Cambs border and is an award-winning, eco-friendly farm venue known for its idyllic gardens and vintage charm. This family-run venue has it all: a charming Tudor farmhouse, a rustic barn, colourful gardens, and even cute farm animals (their resident piglets often steal guests’ hearts!).
For your ceremony, you have options – the elegant Drawing Room or an outdoor garden ceremony under a flowering arbor. During receptions, guests love mingling in the courtyard to gentle live music – and later on, the barn comes alive for dancing. South Farm’s layout flows nicely, meaning I can easily move from playing near the pond for cocktails to setting up in the barn for the evening party without missing a beat.
If you’re after a countryside venue that’s as passionate about sustainability as it is about throwing a great party, South Farm is a fantastic pick. The team there are gems, and we often work together to make sure the day’s music matches the vibe – from romantic and intimate to all-out fun.
Tewin Bury Farm Hotel is a hugely popular barn and farm wedding venue – and I’m honoured to be a recommended supplier here as well.
This venue offers multiple converted barns (like the stunning Tythe Barn) and even a riverside meadow, all in one place. What I love about Tewin Bury is the variety: you could have an outdoor ceremony by the river, with me playing gentle acoustic guitar as your processional song, then move into a rustic barn for dinner where live background music keeps the atmosphere joyous. By evening, it’s party time – one of my favourite memories here is whipping out “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus with my guitar during an event!
As a recommended singer, I know the staff and layout – no last-minute surprises, just seamless setup for each part of your day. Couples often comment how the live music flowed perfectly, from ceremony to first dance. If you want a venue that combines rustic charm, modern comforts, and musical flexibility, Tewin Bury Farm is hard to beat.
Looking for something a bit different and very personal? Tewin Country Weddings offers a “blank canvas” meadow venue in the Hertfordshire countryside. It’s essentially a gorgeous field on a family farm where you can bring in a tipi, marquee, or yurt of your choice – how cool is that? This hidden gem is surrounded by horses, goats, and sheep in nearby paddocks for a real countryside festival feel.
As a musician, I love how unique this setting is. With no sound limiters or strict curfews beyond what you set, we can really let the live music soar. The venue only takes a limited number of weddings each summer, so you get the whole week to build your dream setup. Imagine your first dance under festoon lights and stars, with a live guitar serenade echoing across the fields...
If you’re the DIY type of couple who wants bespoke everything, Tewin Country Weddings gives you the freedom – and I’ll happily bring the festival-worthy tunes to match your vision.
